Welcome to Our Community of Faith

Mount Calvary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of Our Savior (Medhanialem) was established in 1996 in accordance with the teachings and doctrines of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, a member of the Oriental Orthodox churches.
Our church is rooted in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ — Creator and Savior of the world. We are committed to building God’s kingdom on earth and to preserving the core tenets of our faith as handed down by Jesus Christ, the apostles, and the early Church Fathers. In keeping with that tradition, we accept the ecumenical councils of Nicaea, Constantinople, and Ephesus.
At the center of our faith are the Five Pillars of Mystery: The Holy Trinity, the Incarnation, Baptism, the Eucharist (Holy Communion), and the Resurrection of the Dead. These truths are summarized and confessed in the Nicene Creed (the Prayer of Faith). Our faithful receive instruction in the Creed and in the seven sacraments of the Church: Baptism; Chrismation (Myron/Confirmation); Penance (Confession); Holy Communion (the Eucharist); Anointing of the Sick (Unction); Holy Matrimony; and Holy Orders.
We place great importance on teaching and understanding the Holy Scriptures, which we regard as the foundation for knowing God and living a meaningful, fruitful Christian life. Since our founding, the church has worked diligently to provide regular liturgical services to members of our community and to spread the Gospel widely. Special emphasis has been placed in recent years on expanding ministry for children and youth to nurture the next generation in faith and service.
Whether you are seeking worship, spiritual growth, fellowship, or service opportunities, we invite you to join us on this spiritual journey.
